Let's see what Canvas is all about...

 Hello everyone, today we'll talk about my university's education information system: Canvas. Let's see what it is all about.

Istanbul University - Cerrahpaşa has announced its new and active education management system like this over at their official homepage. It's an automatic information system for students in which class registration is done synchronously with their education system: aksis. Once a student enrolls to classes for their upcoming term, the same classes are added to the Canvas system. The question is, what are the benefits of such a system?

To begin with, Canvas allows for teachers to gather all their students in a digital environment in which they can monitor the number of people taking their classes. As soon as somebody adds their classes to their list or drops their classes from their list, the teacher can actively track that activity. Once the lectures start, they will have an updated number at their hands.

On top of this, Canvas creates an environment in which teachers can share resources, create homeworks, start discussions, provide links for pre-planned online lectures. Instead of using a second platform for sharing links to online meetings, a teacher can set up the entire semester's meeting links and Canvas will create a join button for each link. When it's time to have that week's lecture, the students can press the join button and they will be auıtomatically directed to the correct meeting. 

Finally, canvas allows exams to be conducated in an online environment. The teacher can set up multiple-choice or open ended questions and give instructions at the beginning of exams and set it up to go active at a certain time and the exam will begin and end on the correct time set by the faculty. The students can take their exams in this online environment and if it's multiple choice and if the teacher set up the correct answers to questions correctly, then the stundents will know the results of their exams in an instant. Moreover, Canvas allows for these grades to be exported over to the education tracking system: aksis as well. 

All in all, Canvas is a really good education information system and it allows for teachers to create the optimum environment for education support and students can benefit from this system greatly.
